“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.”
Acts 2:17 & 18
(from the Apostle Peter’s sermon on the Day of Pentecost, a quote from the prophet Joel)
Last week I had a phone conversation with a member at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church. She is a 63-year-old single lady who has a dream of serving others.
It is a big dream. She wants to serve the most vulnerable in Armenia, in a way that is out of her comfort zone, but she has a vision and a passion that God placed upon her heart and that vision has her striving to serve God in ways that she never thought possible.
It is in her “third-third of life” that she is acting on a dream from God and it is in your third-third of life that I want to encourage you in your calling as a disciple of Jesus. Discipleship doesn’t end at a certain age. It is a life-long calling to move in the slow direction to be like Jesus and it includes our dreams and vision.
Here is an article for you to read from the Fuller Seminary’s De Pree Center (https://depree.org/de-pree-journal/not-too-late-to-act-on-your-dream/). It is a good reminder that the third-third of our life is one where we can make a difference for God’s kingdom. He can give us dreams and those dreams can impact our world for Jesus.
Have a great rest of the 4th of July weekend.
