Pastor’s Note 03/06/2025

Lent, as you may know, is a six-week season in the Christian year prior to Easter. It is a time in which many Christians focus on spiritual growth, often by giving up something they enjoy (like sugar or games on their phone) in order to focus more on God. Some folks also add a spiritual discipline in Lent, such as feeding the hungry at a food shelter or journaling each evening. No matter what we do or don’t do in Lent, it is a season for growing in God’s grace as we prepare for the celebration of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday.

One tradition that I have done during Lent is to take a few moments each day to read the devotional that is produced by the Center for Christianity, Culture and the Arts that is at BIOLA University. Each year they put together and Lenten Project that helps a person journey through the season of Lent. There is a written devotional, music and art, a multi-sensory experience that is a tool that allows me to focus upon by relationship with Jesus and “journey” with Him to the cross. If you would like to find out more about the Lenten Project, here is the link to read more:

My prayer for all of us is to do one thing that will help us on our journey through Lent as we prepare for Good Friday and the celebration of Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday.

Have a great rest of the week and I will see you on Sunday.
