A note from the Pastor

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Giving thanks is an important part of the life of the Christ-follower. Gratitude to God for His guidance and His blessings is something that we are to do. So in good and even difficult times, we are to give praises to God. With this in mind, it is with much gratitude and praise that I write these words to all of you for my time here at LCPC. God has been good, He has been generous, and He has been trustworthy. I can see His fingerprints on so many different aspects of my year here and I continue to trust Him as together, we move forward in His Kingdom work.

So as we make preparations for next week’s Thanksgiving celebrations and gatherings, pause long enough to give God thanks. Even if you are in a difficult season of life, give thanks where you can. Reflect on how He has been faithful in the past. Pause long enough to see His kindness today. Look for the blessings that He has and He is providing. This is a good spiritual exercise to do on a regular basis.

Also, be in prayer for me and my family as we travel to Texas to celebrate daughter Lauren’s marriage to Thomas Watson. It will be a grand celebration, Texas style, so we are looking forward to all that will take place.

Y’all have a great rest of the week.

A Note from the Pastor, 11/13/21

We are a vibrant church, growing in love for Jesus Christ who seek to make a difference through Worship, Community and Service.

Thanks to all of you who were able to attend last Sunday’s Congregational Meeting in order to take care of the necessary business of the church. In the midst of all of the elections and approvals you asked some very good questions about our church, our future and what are the steps that we are taking to becoming the vibrant difference making church that we want to be.

As we continue to grapple with the issues that we have we will always remember some of the characteristics of the God that we know and love. These characteristics of God have been a part of our sermon series these past weeks, The Good and Beautiful God. Together we have learned that our God is good, our God is trustworthy, our God is generous, our God is love, our God is holy, our God is self-sacrificing, and our God transforms. Being reminded of this is important as we move forward to being a vibrant church.  So be praying for our church and that we might love the God that Jesus reveals to us and share that good news with others.

Know that I am praying for you and for our church and I hope to see you this weekend.

Fall Back, but Looking Ahead

Hi, it’s me again!

This Sunday, November 7 marks my first complete year of serving as your pastor at LCPC. It was one year ago that I preached my first sermon in the sanctuary in front of many of you on November 8th but it was shortly thereafter that the COVID protocols limited our in person gatherings. It has been a year of starts and stops, of moving forward and then taking a pause but through it all I still sense God’s calling that we have work to do together for His Kingdom.

2022 Pledges & Time/Talent
At Sunday’s worship we will be receiving our 2022 pledges. You should have received in the mail a letter from myself and from the Stewardship Committee. There also was a Pledge Card for 2022 that will help in our planning for the next year. If you can prayerfully consider a pledge for next year, bring your card and together we will dedicate our pledges for the coming year. If you didn’t receive a pledge card in the mail you can stop by the office or there will be some available on Sunday.

Congregational Meeting
Also on Sunday after our worship service we will be having our Annual Congregational Meeting. It is the time when we elect our leadership teams (the Elders and Deacons) for the coming year, review the 2022 Budget, along with the congregational approval of the Pastoral salary package. I hope that you can attend and if you can’t, I will appreciate your prayers.

Fall Back
Don’t forget, this Sunday we set our clocks back one hour so I hope to see you at church on time this Sunday.
