Cornerstone
This 2016 election has been a difficult and divisive election and horrible words have been said and not just from politicians.
As human beings all too often we say mean and spiteful words or withhold our communication.
Perhaps out of hurt, bitterness, anger or fear, our words and even our silence can wound a loved one, friend, co-worker and even a stranger as surely as a sharp edge knife cuts into the flesh; but with words of anger and bitterness the wound rarely heals.
One film critic said it best, “the worst prisons are the ones we build ourselves.” Invisible walls are built, families are torn apart, and missed opportunities are lost. Life happens in an instant but can take a life time to unravel.
Through God’s grace we have been saved, but often we fail to extend that same grace of forgiveness to someone who has hurt us. If you have said something, or been the victim of someone else’s hurtful words, address it NOW through PRAYER, and FORGIVE. Grace is powerful and mends wounds.
Cornerstone
I am amazed how the world has changed in my life, some good, but it seems there is more going on today that isn’t for the better. The world seems to be short on patience and forgiveness; we are so quick to temper. The challenges we face before us represent a battle we are in. Our youth recently changed the name of the youth group from Saints United for Radical Faith, or SURF, to their new name, Resistance. Our youth understand that given our times, it is critical they fight the battle. The battle to resist temptation and the false promises of this world.
We are all in a battle and we have to resist the false teachings, and the worldly view society has deemed as correct.
