Gifts
What is really important in your life? What are you doing to make a difference either in your life or in someone else? I know from personal experience that there are moments when I’ve been so focused on myself or a family member that I missed seeing another family, friend or stranger in need. Every volunteer organization needs an extra helping hand, every church has needs that go unfilled. At LCPC we strive to serves the needs of many, yet there is always more to do that goes unfulfilled.
The Apostle Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians included a verse regarding the variety of gifts we possess and yet the gifts are of the same Spirit. Some of you may be great gardeners, while others will cause a plastic plant to drop its artificial leaves. Some may be great listeners, while others love to tell stories. Some may have the gift of teaching young or old, and others may share their voices or musical talents. Your talents represent a part of a whole. If you have not already done so, please consider using your spiritual gift and become an involved member in the body of Christ.
1Cor 12:27 “Now you are Christ’s body, and individually members of it.”
New Beginnings
As kids when we played games sometimes we would ask for a “do over”, a second chance, or as it is known in golf, a “mulligan”. This is when a player makes a mistake or their performance is poor and they ask that their mistake not count and then replay their turn.
In life, we often think that a “do over” is limited to games and that life doesn’t give second chances. If you are of this opinion, think again. Jesus gives us a second chance. We have been given the greatest opportunity to have a “do over” and all that is asked of us, is that we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Faith that we accept Christ Jesus, who has died for our sins so that all who believe are given a new beginning, freed from the chains of our past mistakes.
