Pastor’s Note 03/13/2025
Being Presbyterians means that we are connected with other Presbyterian churches in the Presbytery of San Diego. We are one of 34 different worshipping communities that stretches from Oceanside in North County San Diego down to the border with Mexico and from the Pacific Ocean all the way out to the desert and Imperial County. That is a large area of real estate, and each church is different in how they worship, how they study the Scriptures, and how they make disciples, but we all have the same desire to share the news about Jesus Christ and His Kingdom.
One of my obligations as a “Teaching Elder” in the Presbytery of San Diego is to share in the work of the Presbytery. My current role is on the Committee on Ministry which provides oversight to each of the churches and the pastors that are serving the various churches, and, in that role, I am going to be a part of the Presbytery’s Administrative Commission for the installation of the new pastor at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church.
So, this Sunday, I am going to be at Solana Beach attending their worship service and participating in the installation of Rev. Dr. Peter Dunn. Here at LCPC, Linda Sunkel will be preaching and sharing from God’s Word about God’s Kingdom from another one of Jesus’ Parables.
I will miss being with all of you this Sunday but know that good words will be shared as Linda preaches.
Have a great rest of the week.

One tradition that I have done during Lent is to take a few moments each day to read the devotional that is produced by the Center for Christianity, Culture and the Arts that is at BIOLA University. Each year they put together and Lenten Project that helps a person journey through the season of Lent. There is a written devotional, music and art, a multi-sensory experience that is a tool that allows me to focus upon by relationship with Jesus and “journey” with Him to the cross. If you would like to find out more about the Lenten Project, here is the link to read more:
Have a great rest of the week and I will see you on Sunday.
