Pastor’s Note 08/29/2024

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord,

continue to live your lives in Him,

rooted and built up in Him,

strengthened in the faith as you were taught,

 and overflowing with thankfulness.”

(Colossian 2:6)

As Labor Day weekend approaches, the unofficial end of summer takes place, and the beginning of fall is here. That means school gets started (although it has already begun for most students), temperatures begin to cool (although that won’t happen in Southern California for another month or so) and pumpkin spiced products will be in our stores (I know that the new Trader Joe’s in Santee will be ready for this flavor to be available). It also means that we can start something new. That is what comes to my mind as we turn the page on the calendar.

So, let me ask, what will you do in a new way to be “rooted, built up and overflowing with thankfulness” in your life in Christ? That is what the above verse encourages us to do and that is what this week’s sermon is about.

Let me encourage you to come this Sunday (whether it is in person or online) and learn some of the things that these verses encourage us to do in maybe a new way, as we turn our calendars to September.

Have a great holiday weekend and I hope to see many of you on Sunday!

Pastor’s Note 08/22/2024

For the past 8+ weeks we have been looking at the different “angles” of the church’s stained-glass windows and how they communicate the love of God for us.

The windows start with Jesus’ birth and end with His resurrection from the dead. Here is a list briefly describing each window:

  • Jesus’ Birth
  • Jesus at the Temple
  • Jesus walking on the water
  • Jesus as the Good Shepherd
  • Jesus welcoming the children
  • Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane
  • Jesus hanging on the cross
  • Jesus and the empty tomb.

Each of these windows tells us something about Jesus, about the life that He lived, and about His divinity. If you missed any of the sermons you can always go back and listen to them on our YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@lakesidecommunityprebyster4793/streams).

This is our final week of looking at these windows so let me invite you to come and hear about Jesus and the empty tomb and the reason why this is important for our lives as followers of Christ.

Have a great rest of the week and I hope to see you on Sunday.
